After a 36-month romance turned sour, a wealthy Johannesburg business owner has turned to Instagram to sell almost R1m worth of expensive clothing, jewellery and gifts he had given his ex.

Among the goods are Roberto Cavalli boots, never worn, that cost R14,000 new and can be had for R5,000; and diamond earrings from Cape Town jeweller Lorraine Efune that cost R40,000 new and are on offer at half that price. A brand-new pair of Versace boots that cost R6,500 have already been snapped up for just R2,500.

Every day from May 24, one or two new items were placed on the account, beginning with a pair of size 5½ Christian Louboutin ankle boots - never worn, and one of only 25 pairs in the world - that retails for R25,000. Moti offered them at 50% off.
