The maintenance is scheduled to take place from 7:00 to 17:00, impacting customers with no access to water during this period.
Nombuso Shabalala, the Spokesperson for Johannesburg Water, acknowledges the economic hurdles facing South Africa, including rising unemployment and escalating national debt, which have strained resources and necessitated creative approaches to service delivery. In addition to infrastructure expansion, the entity prioritises maintenance and refurbishment projects under its Infrastructure Investment Programme to enhance resilience and reliability.
To ensure financial sustainability, the entity plans to implement a Revenue Enhancement Programme targeting reductions in Non-Revenue Water and improved meter reading accuracy.
