Joburg 'prejudicing' the rest of the country, says Eskom in fight over R1 billion bill

Eskom's urgent application is against the City of Johannesburg, but also the City's electricity utility City Power , the National Energy Regulator of SA , as well as the National Treasury.

Despite the fact that the City of Johannesburg places a massive 60% mark-up on the electricity it supplies to residents,In an affidavit before the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg, Eskom's revenue management manager, Susan Smith, said that despite the company's"best efforts" to get the City to pay up,"the matter has reached a point where Eskom can simply no longer afford to accommodate the CoJ without harming its own business".
