Jeppe Boys’ High School flanker Nathan Claasen is tackled by his opposite number from Grey College Juliun Cosmo, with Grey’s halfback Philip McLaren in close attention during their titanic clash at the Noord-Suid Rugby Tournament at Affies in Pretoria on Monday
Jeppe High School for Boys threw the biggest punch of the schoolboy rugby season when they beat Bloemfontein's Grey College 22-19 in the second last game of the fourth day of the Noord-Suid rugby tournament in Tshwane on Monday. Jeppe, who badly fluffed their lines in their 45-19 loss to Paarl Boys High on Friday, where they let a 19-7 lead slip, stayed in the game for the full 70 minutes and were full value for their first-ever win against Mangaung's powerhouse school.
For Grey, who brushed aside Jeppe's cross-town rivals King Edward VII School 51-16 on Friday, it was their first loss on South African soil since 20 August 2022 when they lost 34-19 to fierce rivals Paul Roos Gimnasium.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
