As we are having a conversation with one part of the popular afro soul duo, Jaziel Brothers Luthando Ngcizela, this week, a small baby wails in the background, demanding his attention. Quickly, the raspy singer’s daddy mode kicks in and he excuses himself for a minute from the interview. I can hear him placating the child in hushed, soothing tones.
Since people started to go out more, we find work almost every week. Often, we have to do two or three gigs, including weekend gigs. We knew from a long time ago that we wanted to have something that could make our music live beyond us performing on the stage. It became possible during Covid when we chanced upon an acquaintance in a restaurant who worked in a Seta, and helped us with information on how to get accreditation to get this current partnership that we have.
