Zuma, who was testifying at the state capture inquiry for a third day on Wednesday, was responding to allegations leveled against him by former public enterprises minister Barbara Hogan.that she met with the former president a month into her appointment in 2009 to discuss issues affecting the parastatal, especially that of appointing a permanent group executive to replace Maria Ramos.
“There is a process that determines who becomes the winning candidate...I would not have said this, not at all...It means I would also be undermining the process itself. I would have been saying 'this is my person, finish'. I could not have said so…I was looking at the process, that whatever happens at the end that will be the decision, I did not put my preference on Gama or whoever.
"I am taking advice on the matter. Of course he can't be let to say these things and get away with them. There will obviously be a response somehow, somewhat," Nyanda said. Nyanda was among those who were instrumental in making sure Zuma ascended to power at the 2007 ANC Polokwane elective conference.
