Keith Earls is set to become the ninth Ireland player to reach the milestone of 100 caps, after being named in the matchday-23 to face England in a World Cup warm-up in Dublin.

Earls, who made his Test debut against Canada in 2008, will follow the likes of Brian O’Driscoll, Paul O’Connell, Rory Best, Johnny Sexton and Ronan O’Gara in reaching the milestone.

The 35-year-old outside back has been named on the bench as Andy Farrell opted to field a strong starting lineup to tackle England on Saturday. Ireland will be captained by lock James Ryan in their final home game before the World Cup. Ryan, who will lead his country for the eighth time, is joined in the second row by Tadhg Beirne.

There is a first Test start at No 8 for Cian Prendergast, who is in the back row with Peter O’Mahony and Josh van der Flier. Leinster pair Ross Byrne and Jamison Gibson-Park start in the half-backs, while centre pair Bundee Aki and Garry Ringrose are set to make their first warm-up appearances ahead of the World Cup.
