Illegal connections | One person dead in clashes with police

Residents are highly upset about City Power’s operation to remove illegal connections in the informal settlement of River Park in Alexandra. They say City Power’s spokesperson Isaac Mangena promised illegal connections would no longer be removed. eNCA’s Nkosazana Dambuza has the story. Courtesy #DStv403One person has died and the power utility had to withdraw following protests by residents.The community is unhappy their electricity was cut without being given an alternative.

City Power claims that it loses up to R2-billion a year to illegal connections and insists they need to be cut.
