Nkosikhona Khanyile, the ward 65 councillor, was among 22 people arrested last week regarding the 'hijacking' of a property in Denver, east of Johannesburg.

The IFP says it will sue the City of Johannesburg for what it deems the wrongful arrest of its councillor. He was released because there was no evidence against him.

Following the deadly Marshalltown fire two weeks ago, the City earmarked the building as alternative accommodation for those who had been displaced. and executed the arrests of 23 people, including Khanyile.NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said 22 others were not charged"as there was no evidence against them". Mangena is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court again on Friday, after the matter was postponed for verification of his address.

Khanyile, according to Dlamini, cautioned business owners that they could not build a screen wall without the City's permission.
