Black First Land First leader Andile Mngxitama briefs media at BLF Head Office in Johannesburg, 11 November 2018, on why BLF calls for 5 Whites for every 1 Black life and an announcement of steps to be taken to ensure self defence. Picture:Nigel SibandaThe Electoral Commission of South Africa wrote to the Black First Land First informing the party of “a number of submissions” it received objecting to its candidate lists.
Though the objectors were unknown at the moment, they were objecting to party leader Andile Mngxitama and its national spokesperson Lindsay Gerald Massdorp on the grounds that their statements or conduct were viewed as inappropriate for people who may be voted to parliament on May 8.
“The constitution and foundational values of BLF are for anti-racism by prioritising blacks as the victims of systemic racism by whites over the last 400 years. BLF has no desire nor intention to oppress anyone.”
