The Independent Electoral Commission says it does not involve itself in the internal affairs of political parties after uMkhonto weSizwe Party founder Jabulani Khumalo called for the removal of Jacob Zuma on the ballot paper.
“Additionally, the Commission only acts on instruction of the registered leader of the party. In the present case, Jacob Zuma is the registered leader of the MK Party. This has been so since 10 April 1994,” the IEC said.In addition, Khumalo said there had been rumours that the former ANC president wanted to hijack MKP, however, he rejected them because he thought his relationship with Zuma was solid.
