Rising star Ugo Humbert won his maiden ATP title in the final of the Auckland Classic

In the all-French showdown, the unseeded Humbert held his nerve in the deciding tie-break of his first ATP final to beat the fifth seed 7-6 , 3-6, 7-6 .

The 30-year-old Paire, number 24 in the world, was no stranger to playing a decider, having been stretched to three sets in his four previous matches in the tournament. The 21-year-old Humbert, ranked number 47, only played three sets in the first round against Casper Ruud and then won his next three matches in straight sets including wins over second-seed Denis Shapovalov and fourth-seed John Isner.

In the first set of the final, Humbert broke Paire's opening serve, the first of four breaks in the set, and was on the verge of wrapping up the set at 6-5 with three breakpoints only for Paire to fight his way out of trouble and force the tie-break.The tide turned in the second set for Paire who broke Humbert on a double fault at 2-1 and maintained the advantage for force the third set winner-takes-all.

In their one previous meeting, Paire had rallied from a set down to beat Humbert in three sets at Winston-Salem last year.He broke early, only for Paire to break back at 3-5, and both players then held serve through to 6-6 when Humbert edged a head with a point off Paire's first serve in the tie-break.

DA’s leadership shake-up fails to stem losses in crucial Mamusa by-election“There is no further progress in arresting the trend and the DA honestly should be extremely concerned.” The biggest mistakes the Our_DA made are/were. 1. they are arrogant and don't listen. Send the leader an email and the response is an automatic 'thanks for your support', 2. They showed they were prepared to forego their principles to attract the masses at any cost

BY-ELECTIONS: ANC wins solid majority in Mamusa in North West, FF+ win ward off DAThe African National Congress retained all ward seats and their outright majority in the Mamusa by-elections. The Economic Freedom Fighters exhibited strong growth, while the Freedom Front Plus easily won a ward off the Democratic Alliance. The DA is a DYING ANIMAL. If the FF is kicking their butts, can u imagine the results in the next election. Good that this racist, one sided party led by WOMAN HITLER, is slowly becoming irrelevant. Pity that the ANC still has such clout. SA needs 4 new political parties. Woketards jump around and celebrate poor by-election results of opposition parties and in particular the Our_DA, thereby letting their wokeness blind them to realize eventual demize of RSA 🇿🇦 under MYANC.
