The State IT Agency is spending R400 million revamping Home Affairs’ whole network, Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has announced in his budget vote speech.
“It is painful and generates a lot of anger to visit a Home Affairs office very early in the morning and just stand there and wait for hours on end because all systems are down,” said Motsoaledi.Motsoaledi said many members of the public believe the department’s computers don’t work.and that he would go to the private sector for help with their IT system. It was paying for a bronze-tier product and expecting platinum-level service, Sita stated.
Sita has also implemented a software-defined network for Home Affairs, which the minister promised will increase bandwidth to their applications. “We wish to confess that whenever our systems are down, we stand in awe of the banks which always seem to be having a stable IT network,” the minister stated. The engineers have been vetted and will soon begin at Home Affairs.
Someone is getting stinking rich of our hard earned money. Does anyone know exactly what is wrong with the system?! I ready to bet it is not an R400mil problem!
The issue with the system is they have 1 server and they connect via webpage. They are offline most of the time due to a bottleneck in connections. The system was designed poorly
Error 404 after this fix
Look, R400m is actually cheap in comparison to other tenders for reduced scope. I wonder if they will simply duplicate the success from the bank branches? Why did that work so well?
Lol, they will find a new way to screw it up, the problem is many employees at Home Affairs are rude and entitled. It’s always a circus.
🤣 how much money is spent by the government to say that I exist and have a right to exist?
