Nearly a month after a second round of arrests in connection with a massive vehicle licensing fraud ring, five more suspects have been arrested

The suspects, aged between 36 and 49, were stationed at the Delmas Licensing Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, the Piet Retief Department of Safety, Security and Liaison and the Lydenburg Thaba Chweu Local Municipality.The five officials were nabbed on Wednesday on charges of fraud, theft, and money laundering worth R60 million.They are expected to appear before the Nelspruit Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Officials would manipulate the system and extend the expiration dates of the vehicle licence discs and re-issuing the new disc that showed zero balance.
