Instead of providing a reasoned defence of the government’s decision to end the Zimbabwe Exemption Permit, he has made a venomous, unhinged attacked on civil society.

on the Helen Suzman Foundation and civil society.terminate the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit

Most alarmingly, he writes: “South Africa is now under the dictatorship of some non-governmental organisations with some having faceless and dubious funders. Their ultimate aim is to assist in the dislodgement of the government of the day from power by all means available.” There is much else in Motsoaledi’s statement that sounds unhinged: “licence to abuse the Bill of Rights”, “armchair critics”, “no idea of the sacrifices and deaths of many freedom fighters”, “sat in the comfort of their homes because of the colour of their skin”, “playing the victim card”.

But the especially unhinged aspects of Motsoaledi’s statement also come from the toxic playbook of Donald Trump. Is this to be the new low level of political debate in South Africa?

JamesSpies12 It expired!

He knows full well that they are not processing these applications and that Zimbabwean embassy is not reachable to process simple things like police clearance. It’s shameful how this is being managed- make applications accessible. Border control take bribes allow ppl in daily .

I always hated bitcoin and thought it was a scam, till I met Helen_Truss , I made my first successful withdrawal of R400,000 thanks to Helen_Truss now am financially stable..

ZEP expired the minister doesn't need to justify why they were not renewed bloody fool

The gutless ANC has NEVER supported FreedomAndDemocracy in Zimbabwe, throwing its lot in with one dictator after another, as it has done elsewhere in Africa! When the chickens come home to roost in the form of PoliticalRefugees & EconomicMigrants, the ANC punishes THEM!!

Journalism is not a scarce skill in SA, what you say here can't be proven unless if when talking about immigrants you exclusively refer to Zimbabweans. I'm sure it won't be difficult to apply for a work visa if there's a shortage of that skill..

They've expired duh?

The ANC showing its AntiDemocratic AntiFreeMedia colours once again! All they are interested in, is unthinking, blind support from the media & CivilSociety, and when they don't get it, they lash out like the authoritarian fascists they actually are!!

But whites are desperate

He is doing exactly what a sober minded and patriotic South African should do ie protecting the country from scumbags who masquerade as NGOs.

HSF is not civil society but a white supremacist organization using human rights as a front. We know Helen Suzman's history & this foundation is a continuation of that. DHA & Minster work for us not HSF. They can go with the ZEP holders if they feel so strongly about it.

Immigration-related permits: Why Motsoaledi is 'jittery' about releasing 'sensitive' report to MPs | News24Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi is 'jittery' about releasing a 'sensitive' report to MPs before the information is presented to them. The report is in relation to a task team's investigation into the home affairs department's issuance of permits. Home affairs is a ANC chop shop , OR Tambo and all other entry points are just money making tellers . I wouldn't blame illegal immigrants if they are permitted to get in by officials . South Africans are rotten with corruption . Immigrants were issued with SA smart ID at cost of R5000 and R9000 for passport
