Police have launched an investigation after a seven-year-old learner was allegedly raped by a grade seven learner at a primary school in Shongoane village under the Waterberg District in Limpopo.South African Police Service spokesperson in Limpopo, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the grade two learner, was at the premises when she was allegedly taken to a school toilet and unexpectedly raped by a grade seven learner between 12:00 and 14:30.
Ledwaba said the victim arrived at home complaining about leg injuries, and her mother checked but thought it was just a minor injury. “It is reported that after a few minutes, the seven-year-old learner started crying and was put on the bed for observation. The mother of the victim noticed that something was wrong with her private part, and she was rushed to a local clinic.
“Upon arrival, a minor child was examined by the Medical personnel who later confirmed that indeed she had been raped and also confirmed the ordeal to one of the medical personnel,” Ledwaba explained. Furthermore, the police confirmed that a minor suspect is known but has not yet been arrested. Police investigations are continuing.
