The South African government has vowed to spend less than R150 million for the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Johannesburg - The South African government has vowed to spend less than R150 million for the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa compared to the R240m it spent for the inauguration of former president Jacob Zuma in 2014.

Dlamini Zuma said government’s cost containment measures had forced to cut their budget for the inauguration by more than R100m. She said prior to the inauguration, the country will have its first sitting of parliament on May 22 where 400 parliamentarians will be sworn in. The inauguration will be held under the theme - Together celebrating democracy: Renewal and growth for a better South Africa.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha... LIES!!!

While prasa trains have no windows

Do some cost shedding. Trying to impress people that don't even like you. Whilst they eating your food they are skinnering

Wonder how much is going in their pockets coz surely this cant cost that much

Well thats what people voted for

Same president, same government....WTF is there an inaguration? Those are for NEW governments. If Cyril was serious about cracking down on spending wastage, he would cancel this folly. Result: points from all spheres, incl international ratings agencies. But no..........

One hundred and fifty million rand. OUTASA chrishartZA PigSpotter

How absolutely generous of them to spend less than 150 million. Christ almighty. Well, we in RSA have the leadership we deserve. People vored them in & are thus complicit in their own poverty.

Is still alot its can do more in service delivery to celebrate top job

what!!!!!!! That kind of money could be far more useful in schools/hospitals/roads etc

CyrilRamaphosa Even 5 mil is too much.

Dankie anc voters.

The same money would have built Rdps. Waste of money

Absolute waist of money. ANC outperforms themselves when they have inaugurations and funerals. Never the same enthusiasm when it comes to productive governance.

It's still a lot.

They couldn't just get the Wittebome civic? Are we at least invited to the after party?

Mr President CyrilRamaphosa is it possible that the change left over from your inauguration be used to pay off some student debts?

What this things cost this much! Even if it is cut to R100m, 50m or 5m it still alot President CyrilRamaphosa

Surely the money could be put to better use? CyrilRamaphosa is not an egoist - he would surely understand?

WTF?

Shameful ! Truly shameful

Not even less than 10000.

Oh well, it's just money afterall...🙄🙄

How many RDP houses can be built with that amount?

Unfair..Zuma did not waste money like that..we want him back

We don't need this party to be honest. A braai at Ramaphosa's for his close peeps is fine and just email the pictures. SAgovnews

Less than R150 million? How much...? R149 million? My word.

Bloody hell 😳

Why spend it anyway? Please send us itemized billings please PresidencyZA

That is still too much. It should be reduced to 25 million, the rest should come from his pocket, after all he has the money

Moer 😭

For what? Inaugurate him in Parliament, R1million max for some snacks and fireworks, use the other R149mil for something productive.

As if the country will be in a better state the day after this wasteful expenditure

Audit please , before and after

🤣wow thanks hey

how about spending 0? we all know he won
