Minister in the Presidency Jackson Mthembu said the government believes the decisions taken and the regulations declared under the National Disaster Act were lawful and rational to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus and to save lives.

The government will appeal the North Gauteng High Court judgment which declared certain lockdown regulations irrational and unconstitutional.

“We are very confident that what we did, the articulation of levels was crafted to save lives,” Mthembu said. Mthembu said the government had consulted legal experts on the matter and believed that a different court would come to a different decision.

Such arrogance by this lot but we will persevere. I stood for them years ago and will now stand against them whatever it takes

They have to appeal this, they don’t have a choice. But as soon as the DA’s case is heard in the constitutional court and they lose it is game over!

when politicians lost the intellectual game, that happens more often than not, this is what happens tantrums and suspensions and appeals !!!!,

What’s done it’s done hopefully they shape the future for the betterment of every citizen

They saw them they are very stupid useless state

OMG ! What a surprise... NOT ! Zumanomics and legal delay tactics ala JZ ... trying to save face while using the country as a political football....FuANC

Neville27910284 They need leave to appeal first - appeal is not automatic

I understand the legal process of cases being heard in a High Court, then appealed in the same court or an Appellate court before its referred to the ConCourt. However, wouldn’t it save time & money, if it involves a constitutional matter , it’s heard directly in the ConCourt?

More time and money wasted instead of listening to the People backed by the Court! This is not a pissing contest because lives are at stake. Because Government focus on the wrong things, the virus is spreading faster! Are we in Communist China or in South Africa? Obey the Court!

What did you expect?

Tell David to bring it on Goliath🤔
