DA leader John Steenhuisen was one of many who reacted to the news that SA Breweries has suspended the contracts of more than 500 temporary workers due to the ongoing ban on the sales and distribution of alcohol.the contracts of 550 temporary workers were suspended with immediate effect while the ban continues.
“The third alcohol ban resulted in reduced demand for temporary workers’ skills. This is no fault of their own but rather a result of the current operating environment,” said SAB vice-president of corporate affairs Zoleka Lisa. “We realise the impact this decision will have on 550 families who will sadly have to go without because of the uncertainty of the alcohol ban.”
5 beds per hospital for alcohol related injury? One really needs to consider this and the impact on hundreds of thousands of jobs, business and those who drink in moderation. Not sure this makes economic sense?! But then I am not a numbers person!
Government needs to lift the ban. Clearly theres no need for this ban

Thats a small portion.. SAB must suspend more.. infact it must stop paying anyone under their management and tell them to go ask Ramaphosa for their salaries.

Booze might be back, but SAB continues legal battle against governmentAnd the state is not backing down, saying there is a connection between alcohol and demand on hospitals. Government should go for a settlement on condition that all retrenched staff are reinstalled. They must, for many years alcohol destroying our people,closing families with no accountability...SABreweries excuse, 'we pay tax' ...hell I pay tax, but I am not allowed to generate revenue by breaking families,killing people ...so their court action will have comebacks.
