Anrune Weyers is a South African 400m Paralympic athlete. She achieved SA's first gold medal at the World Championships in Dubai.
STELLENBOSCH - Gold medalist, Anrune Weyers says she hopes South African para-athletes' performance in the World Para Athlete Championships will encourage companies to invest in them.“Leading up from 2016 I had two knee operations before Rio. After that it was a big struggle to get me motivated and get back into the track.
"If you are an athlete and you go through injuries and you go through difficult things, you cherish that gold and that moment so much more.” Weyers says she agrees with Springbok Captain Siya Kolisi, who said they won the Rugby World Cup for South Africans. "Siya Kolisi said something about that this is for the nation, so I truly believe that after the World Championships, I really in my heart felt that all the medals and all the performances we did it for our nation.”
