CAPE TOWN - Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has thrown his weight behind the appointment of Mampho Modise as the newest deputy reserve bank governor.
Modise’s appointment was announced by the presidency on Friday, along with the re-appointment of SA Reserve Bank governor Lesetja Kganyago for a third five-year term. The terms of the other two deputy governors - Nomfundo Tshazibana and Rashid Cassim - have also been extended. She joined the treasury in 2009, steadily rose through the ranks from a senior economist in economic policy to a director of fiscal policy, and then chief director of strategy and risk management.
