The tournament kicks off with sub-district competitions on Saturday, 25 May, culminating in finals on Women’s Day, 9 August, at Stephen Reagan Sports Complex, Mitchells Plain.
‘The Netball World Cup last year proved how popular this growing sport is among our young people, and not only women,’ says the City’s Mayco member for community services and health, Patricia van der Ross. The U19 local netball tournament series plays a key role in the City and the Cape Town Netball Federation’s mission of promoting netball and creating opportunities for youth in sport.
This initiative encourages participants to be team-oriented, develop leadership skills, gain confidence in their abilities, learn netball fundamentals and above all, have fun.‘I encourage the public to support teams in their local communities or to inquire about joining an accredited netball club,’ Van der Ross adds.
‘This tournament made possible through our partnership with the Cape Town Netball Federation, is a testament to our commitment to promoting sport and recreation programmes that benefit our youth.’Tygerberg and Cape Northern Sub-Districts
