Gautrain services are expected to grind to a halt on Monday morning as the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa) will embark on a strike for improved wages.

"Numsa subsequently presented the offer to workers and a ballot was held on Friday , where only 124 of the 260 Numsa members voted in favour of a strike and as such, a majority vote of 50%+1 as per the Labour Relations Act was not achieved to support a strike,"

"The strike action will start on Monday and the strike will be indefinite until our demands are met," she said. "Since early August, when wage negotiations commenced, Bombela Operating Company had been committed to reaching an agreement in this regard," she said.

Manqoba Mngqithi a shoo-in for Sundowns hot seat — ZondoNow that Pitso Mosimane’s ground-breaking move to Egypt has been completed, former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Khabo Zondo believes there is no better candidate to take the club forward than Manqoba Mngqithi. Sundowns needs to be tactical in the filling of these vacancies. The level we're playing on right now, does not allow us the luxury of building technical staff from the bottom. We need ready-made personnel to compete at the big stages. We're thankfully looking great on the field.
