Fort Hare issues its boss, Sakhela Buhlungu, a suspension letter over his decision to suspend the university’s chief audit executive, by msindisifengu

According to documents seen by City Press, interim council chairperson Sindile Toni wrote a letter informing Buhlungu of the council’s intentions to suspend him on Thursday.

*That Buhlungu’s actions to irregularly suspend Soqaga were deemed ethically questionable because he was a conflicted party in the two cases on which he was directing Soqaga to give him information; *That Buhlungu’s actions of irregularly suspending Soqaga without following any proper procedure were deemed to be tantamount to granting himself unauthorised access to the whistle-blower’s identity and other information submitted by witnesses in investigations and decisions made that relate to his office even though he is a conflicted party;

Responding to City Press, Buhlungu's office said the university has received legal opinion and advice from two sources - the university's internal legal division and from an external legal counsel. Toni said in the letter that the council was presented with a written report from the audit and risk committee.

Corporal punishment out, but police boss calls for stricter measures at schoolsDelegates at a summit told officials of gangsterism, teachers and pupils being assaulted and even parents being beaten up by their own children. Whoever was caling for corporal punishment did not go through what some of us went through in school. We cant let our kids go through the same torture that we were put through by the old barbaric teachers who got to teach with just standard 10. It was pure torture. That yellow ruler is nothing compared to what we went through in our school days. You do that to my kid....i wil personally go deal with you in school, i will not allow my kids to go though pain and classify that as punishment. I teach my children to never ever inflict pain on another human being for whatever reason, because its not a good thing to do . So, i will not expect anybody to that to my kids. There are many ways to restrict a child than causing pain...
