There's a whole etiquette to ordering wine from a restaurant. While many Saffas are pretty wine literate, some folks might not know why a server pours a little tasting before giving you a full glass. If you thought tasting the wine you’re ordering was just a small perk that a server did for fun, you’d only be partly correct. As a former server and TikToker @trashqueentm explained, there’s actually a method behind this madness. “So I used to work at a restaurant.

“Like, when would we have learned this info?” Well, in South Africa, we are lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the best, most world-renowned winemakers, who are more than willing to share their knowledge and a sip of their favourite wine with customers. Our choice wine farm in the Franschhoek region, Anthonij Rupert Wine, has not one, but two tasting rooms to experience all that local wine can offer.
