Former Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana is entering a new chapter in his life following an announcement that his playing career is now over.
Kekana has been without a club since leaving Sundowns towards the end of last season, despite being linked with a few clubs in the DStv Premiership. The 37-year-old spent 10 years with Sundowns, leading them to CAF Champions League in 2016 as well as the CAF Super Cup in 2017 under the tutelage of former coach Pitso Mosimane. He will go down as one of Sundowns' legends and their most successful captains in the PSL era, with two continental titles.
Kekana started his professional career with Black Leopards, before making a move to join SuperSport United, where he won two Premiership titles. After leaving SuperSport, he joined Bloemfontein Celtic, spending just one season with Phunya Sele Sele before making the big move to Chloorkop. Kekana says he will focus on his job as an analyst on SABC.
