The Agriculture Department's Reggie Ngcobo says nationally there are 11 new infections in three provinces, five in both KZN and the Free State and one in Gauteng.

"These new cases were likely already on the farms at the time when the standstill was initiated and some are neighbours of already infected property with contagious spread.""Given the incubation period and the delay in showing clinical science effect of the standstill be better appreciated after two weeks."

Earlier this month, the Department of Agriculture imposed a 21-day nationwide ban on the movement of cattle.
