Dlamini-Zuma said that spreading fake news on the pandemic was a serious criminal offence.

Citizens could face a prison sentence of six months for spreading fake news about coronavirus.were introduced by co-operative governance minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to curb the spread of the pandemic.

The regulation applies to both the creators of fake Covid-19 news and those who spread the news through social media and other channels.Dlamini-Zuma said any person who intentionally misrepresents that he, she or any other person is infected with Covid-19 will be charged.
