Kaizer Chiefs fans turned up in numbers to join the family and friends of Luke Fleurs, who was laid to rest in a funeral service on Saturday, 21 April.Last week, six suspects made their first appearance in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder and theft. His car – a VW Golf 8GTI – has since been recovered.In pics and clips posted on social media, Kaizer Chiefs fans showed up in droves to celebrate the life and legacy of Luke Fleurs.
The funeral service was broadcast live from the New Apostolic Church in Tafelsig, Cape Town. According to the family, Luke’s body will be cremated, and his ashes kept in a safe place at their family home. A particular heartwarming moment showed a group of fans wearing yellow and black singing songs of mourning as they paid their last respects to the young player.He said outside the Roodepoort Magistrates Court: “We don’t like to live with hate in our hearts — how can you live with yourself if you don’t love your brother and your sister? We serve a mighty God who looks over us, who guides us, who gives us comfort and strength and we follow his word. That’s why we are the way we are.
