According to South African research company, Citizen Surveys, only 40% of South Africans believe that not paying their TV licences is wrong and that they should be punished by the law. This is down from 49% in 2018.
The research was to provide key insights on South Africans’ views on paying their SABC TV licences. These statistics were based on face-to-face interviews with 3,900 people per quarter. On Friday, the public broadcaster asked the minister of communications and digital technologies Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams to review and amend the legislation governing TV licence tariff fees with a view to increasing the tariff.

Why should I pay TV licence if I don't watch their lame attempt at programmes and ANC propaganda? I have not watched SABC tv channels for years. Crazy that you have to pay licence fees to buy a TV even if you just want it to watch Netflix and Showmax or Amazon firestick.
What does a TV license look like?
Well, funny thing is, I pay my license yet I do not watch sabc or DSTV, I pay to use Netflix. I think they should ad 1 cent to every litre of fuel and scrap the license. It will make very little difference to those who already pay as they are subsidizing the rest anyway.

SABC owned house, c/o Procter & Tillard, Golfview Mahikeng. I know 5 people who tried to rent or buy it. Wanton destruction of heritage, waste of resources, insult to tax payers, turning my suburb into a ghetto for criminals. Why the hell would I give SABC a single cent?

njivan77 I am paying SABC for TV licence but I honestly believe that they were supposed to get it from Multichoice/DStv. Paying R400 DStv plus tv licence constitutes a 'rip-off'.
