EXTENDED: Applications for the MG200Young list close on JUNE 8 2020. Nominate a 35-and-under who is showing us what to look forward to in the country’s future.

profiles interesting young people who have stood out from the pack and who show us what to look forward to in the country’s future. These under-35s are talented and have shown themselves to be leaders. They are the ones to watch. The list has become the country’s most celebrated hallmark of the up-and-coming generation, a who’s who of young people at the top of their field in 11 categories.

A list of this nature is only as good as the research and support behind it, which is why the M&G is once again calling for nominations to be sent in by the public to assist our editorial team, who will then make the final selection. They need to be people who are making a difference in their field or in their communities or in both.

All nominations will be considered and, should your nomination be successful, the research team will contact your nominee directly. These are unprecedented times, and the role of media to tell and record the story of South Africa as it develops is more important than ever. But it comes at a cost. Advertisers are cancelling campaigns, and our live events have come to an abrupt halt. Our income has been slashed.

The Mail & Guardian is a proud news publisher with roots stretching back 35 years. We’ve survived thanks to the support of our readers, we will need you to help us get through this.

South Africans outraged by police killings in US, but silent about those at homeOften the same people who are grieved and outraged by what happens in the US are entirely silent when poor black people are killed by the police here at home. Exactly in our own backyard people are beaten to death by the nrs yet we are quiet Because it was done by black soldiers and police. It's fine if it's black on black violence but not white on black. This is not true. Plenty of outrage. Search for Khosa on Twitter:
