The 12th edition of the Slave Route Challenge takes place this Sunday. The race, which forms part of the Western Province Athletics calendar, traces the history of Cape Town.

Starting in Darling Street in front of City Hall, the road running event will follow a route which also includes the Castle of Good Hope, District 6, Company’s Gardens, Bo-Kaap, DHL Stadium, Fort Wynyard and many streets of the CBD.

The 10 km will follow a similar start route, but with a turn into Wale Street from Bo-Kaap past the Iziko Slave Lodge, the Slave Tree Plaque and then a run through the Castle of Good Hope before a finish on the Grand Parade.
