The DA has lashed out following the election of Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie as district mayor of the Central Karoo.
The DA's interim provincial leader, Tertius Simmers, told News24 the party was concerned about McKenzie's election and described it as"political thuggery". "What's happening in the Central Karoo is political thuggery; it's not democracy in action. I don't think the PA leader sadly has the knowledge of local government, but we are concerned that this party is moving into the Central Karoo," he said.
