FootballFever | Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Jabulani Mendu has joined the long list of good Samaritans around the country who are providing food parcels to those in need in this time of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Through his Jabulani Mendu Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation he launched soon after his retirement from professional football a decade ago, the erstwhile Bafana Bafana player has urged local footballers to “open hearts and wallets for a noble cause”.

Mendu, fondly known as “S-Curl” in his heyday, initiated a fund-raising project a fortnight ago and has since been distributing food parcels around his home town of Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni. “We also depend on donations, and it is the reason I’m calling for more local players to open their hearts and wallets for a good cause because they come from the same communities that are in dire need during this pandemic.”
