Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi has extended his contract with Ligue 1 outfit Stade Reims for another year, the club has confirmed. The club have confirmed they have added a special clause to Munetsi's contract, where for every kilometer ran by the player on the pitch, the club will donate 100 euros to the Marshall Munetsi Foundation.
"We do not simply extend the player, but also the man. Said like that, it may sound a bit cliché and that's why it was important to follow the words with concrete actions," the statement read."It was important to us to promote this type of personal initiative. It is customary to caricature football and the professional footballer as being disconnected from the world around him. Marshall, through his actions, helps to silence certain prejudices.
The 26-year-old's form this season has not gone unnoticed after he was nominated for the Marc-Viven Foe Prize, which hounours the best African player in Ligue 1.
