Despite the tragedy, Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines will continue to be linked well into the future, says a statement.

Despite the crash that claimed the lives of all 157 people on board an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 earlier this month shortly after it took off from Addis Ababa on its way to Nairobi, the airline’s CEO has expressed his confidence in Boeing.

“Let me be clear: Ethiopian Airlines believes in Boeing. They have been a partner of ours for many years,” the East African reported Tewolde GebreMariam as saying in a statement. “Despite the tragedy, Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines will continue to be linked well into the future.” The Boeing model was grounded in the wake of this month’s crash, the second disaster for the 737 MAX 8 following the October crash of an Indonesian Lion Air jet that killed all 189 passengers and crew.

Analysis of black box data determined that clear similarities between the two crashes exist, according to Ethiopia’s transport minister.
