Sunday, 14 April has marked the 18th consecutive day that South Africa has had an uninterrupted power supply from Eskom.‘A total of 2,150MW of generation capacity is planned to be restored by Monday’, said Daphne Mokwena, Eskom spokesperson.
‘Eskom will provide an update on Wednesday afternoon or promptly communicate any significant changes should they occur,’ Mokwena added. Unplanned outages have been reduced to 12 850MW, while planned maintenance is currently at 7 368MW, according to a recent X post made by Eskom. Last week, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa had approved guidelines of implementing loadshedding up to stage 16, but Eskom has stated there was no looming danger that could ‘see the power cuts being escalated’ at this stage.
