Home Affairs commits substantial funds for expanding the online birth registration system to 91 more facilities in 2023/24.

In a groundbreaking collaboration between the, a transformative initiative is set to ensure that every birth is registered on time through an innovative Online Birth Registration system.

Currently, rolled out initially in 161 health facilities, this system not only streamlines the registration process but also has the remarkable ability to issue birth certificates on the spot.Why is there an expansion? The Department of Home Affairs, recognizing the immense potential of this system, has allocated a substantial budget for its expansion.

“In the upcoming 2023/24 financial year, an additional 91 health facilities will be equipped with this state of the art system, ensuring even broader access to birth registration services. “What’s even more promising is that these newly equipped health facilities will be staffed with full-time Home Affairs officials during office hours, further simplifying the registration process,” read the statement.This expansion marks a significant step towards achieving universal birth registration. This will also contribute immensely to providing early birth registration services.With the Online Birth Registration system’s widespread availability.
