Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi is advocating the introduction of electronic voting, but this drastic shift in the country’s electoral landscape might not be ready by next year’s local government elections.

Last week, Motsoaledi wrote to speaker of the National Assembly Thandi Modise and chairperson of the National Council of Provinces Amos Masondo, introducing the Electoral Laws Amendment Bill after Cabinet approval.
