“Both will not qualify to apply because the offences they have been found guilty of fall within the category of exclusions as per the president’s proclamation,” justice minister Ronald Lamola said on Friday. The mass release of prisoners was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa's office on Friday as the government moved to reduce overcrowding in the country's prisons during the coronavirus pandemic.
Ramaphosa said the parole dispensation excluded inmates sentenced to life imprisonment or serving terms for specified serious crimes, including sexual offences, murder and attempted murder, gender-based violence and child abuse.
Yet again the government show us that they can't lead they set criminals free and look up people that is law abiding citizens just fro trying to provide for their families

Well if murder is a minor offence then yes sure release all death row prisoners. All prisoners who have raped and murdered must be released. Why dont we just break down the jails its really cruel to be locked up for crimes when everybody's on lockdown anyway.
