The minister had until the close of business on Wednesday to lodge an answering affidavit to the challenge

Co-operative governance & traditional affairs minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma faces the prospect of being pursued for contempt of court after missing a court-ordered deadline to file an answer to the first major legal challenge to the government’s controversial cigarette ban.

The minister had until the close of business on Wednesday to respond under oath to lobby group Fair-Trade Independent Tobacco Association’s challenge to the rationality of the tobacco ban, which is due to be heard by the high court in Pretoria next week.A subscription helps you enjoy the best of our business content every day along with benefits such as exclusive Financial Times articles, ProfileData financial data, and digital access to the Sunday Times and Times Select.

fita_sa Will a Notice Of Motion re Wilful Non-compliance be filed? So she can officially be declared a criminal by the court

What exactly makes this gogo thinks that she is above the law?

fita_sa The first time she was already one day late to give to infamous fake 2000 submission , now she does it again. I guess the justice system is elastic the richer you are...

fita_sa The arrogance shown here is the same arrogance shown by CyrilRamaphosa when he makes us wait for his addresses and the same arrogance that's gone into the continued TobaccoBan. Bloody NaziRegime

fita_sa What was anyone expecting she is arrogant and only want things her way so no one has to wonder when any minister acts the same. Bad behavior

fita_sa Oh i love it! Let it all crumble! Stop trying to find more bullshit NDZ. Just accept that you screwed up and can't push your selfish agenda anymore. Stay at home, you're older than 60...

fita_sa Ndz must fall we are tired

fita_sa In all honesty, I dont trust NDZ's judgement. She chose JZ as her husband once upon a time...enough said.

fita_sa Above the courts and President. Who knew🤔

fita_sa The way this commie govt operates, she probably thinks missing the deadline will show the courts that she is inundated with Covid-19 matters, to try & justify their 2nd request for a postponement. Either that or she's contemptful of the same courts that will hold her in contempt!

fita_sa Here's the screenshot

Still enjoying the power trip much NDZ? With power comes responsibility. She was eager for the former but never read the fine print re the latter...

If she is in contempt of court for missing the deadline, does that at least mean the court didnt agree to delaying the case as was requested by the state?

Urgh! Someone pls screenshot and post for us pleasies...
