Ramaphosa expressed these sentiments in response to a survey that found a substantial number of people born between 1997 and 2015Due to the sacrifices of the 1976 generation, the opportunities young black men and women have today are both vastly different and greatly improved.“The 2019/2020 SA Social Attitudes Survey published by the Human Sciences Research Council found that close to 40% of Generation Z has not heard of the historical events of June 16.
“Due to the sacrifices of the 1976 generation, the opportunities young black men and women have today are vastly different and greatly improved.” The president said it was, however, consoling that the survey also found that Generation Z was open to learning about key historical events and believed in their importance.
Ramaphosa said the day needed to serve as a reminder of the power that lies in the youth to create a better future for themselves.
Is he shocked?
Eish, this man is so irritating joo!
Is he referring to the 70% of the unemployed youth he and the MYANC have created?
Nah what’s disturbing is that those that fought for our freedom are the ones destroying our country through corruption 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
If you're born in 1976 you will be 45 this year, jobs in the public sector are for people below 35 years. There is nothing to celebrate, people born in 1976 are working in gardens.💁♂️
MTLekota would maybe tell us the reason why you were set Free and other comrades got locked up CyrilRamaphosa
June 16 was not about d rights of youth, instead we fought against d Dutch language in favor of British language n d most stupid thing we ever done as black people
I think it's enough now, we can't force this old history on our youth no more, teach them something new like technology, money, businesses etc instead of dragging their minds backwards, the world is changing let them change with it, let the past stay in the past
Maybe the youth want to look forward and not backwards as the oldies in govt want to do.
We have nothing to celebrate in this country, only politician can celebrate
Why? Maybe they have moved on. What is the point of regurgitating the imprecise and often false narratives?
What is disturbing is that we still feel like it is 45yrs ago. 😠😠😠
It's your stupid 30% education system that caused this you poepol. Your education system thrives on propoganda of the past instead of focusing on the future.
Why should the youth care about deaths that happened so long ago when they are struggling with life today? They are fighting hunger and unemployment right now. People with degrees are struggling as much as people with grade 9
Maybe because history is destroyed and so lessons from the past are repeated
Nna re nwa savanna.. we are sad generation.. so leave us alone
It's because of they are living the events happening now perpetrated by the biggest organized crime syndicate a nation has ever seen, namely the South African government. Not the ghosts CyrilRamaphosa chases around in his head. People are tired of bed time scary stories.
