Small-scale farmers will get some relief as agricultural commodity prices and demand from Asia decline

In a bid to slow the spread of the virus, President Cyril Ramaphosa, like many of his counterparts across the world, announced a 21-day lockdown, which is due to end on April 16. However, indications are that it could be extended.

She said the support would be reserved for SA citizens or permanent residents who have been actively farming for a minimum of 12 months and currently in the production season or cycle; and smallholder farmers with annual turnover between R50,000 and R1m.

Distressed farmers? Really?

Maybe just ANC's way to get to reserve funds as 1/3 of the funds are allocated to 'Strategic acquisition' Our_DA (farmers to be) i smell a RAT!!!

Not one distressed white or indian farmer will receive a cent.

This isn’t going to end well - for once it would be nice if government kept their hands out of the petty cash tin. Just once without a minister coming up with a quick tender plan.

This is one of the very few Ministers in that Cabinet I still trust and have faith in( the other one been Ayand Dlodlo).Keep on doing the good work,Minister Didiza! ThokoDidiza MinAyandaDlodlo

Blacks only obviously

The same will happen to this money, as happened to the drought relief funds...i dont trust this minister as far as i can see her

R1bn to cadre cronies. R200m to ANC card carrying farmers

Where does all this money come from now all of the sudden there is money to fix water and farming. GovernmentZA what are hiding?
