Nearly 50 000 government facilities including hospitals and schools will be connected to WiFi in the next phase of this initiative.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile will launch the next phase of the nationwide government plan to connect households to WiFi internet this Friday.

The next phase of the government’s nationwide plan to connect 1.5 million households to the internet across the country is set to begin this week Friday, 19th April 2024. Around 4 500 jobs are expected to emerge from the whole project before the end of 2024. The final objective of the project is to ensure that 80 percent of the country’s population has access to the internet by the end of the year.
