DA 'will not rest', says chief whip, as party seeks ad-hoc committee probe into secretary's salary

In its determination to get answers, the DA has tabled a motion for the establishment of an ad hoc joint committee to investigate claims that the salary of Secretary to Parliament , Xolile George, was inflated by nearly 70% shortly after his appointment.

It is alleged that the salary was inflated by the executive authority of Parliament, who was National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula at the time and chairperson of the National Council of Provinces , Amos Masondo, from an advertised R2.6 million to a whopping R4.4 million in less than a year.

DA chief whip Siviwe Gwarube announced the DA's motion on Thursday and added that details relating to George's salary were"vague".South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
