Addressing a media conference at the party's head office in Johannesburg, Malema said his party wanted to take over the Tshwane mayorship.
"This is a power-sharing ... We have already started talking to the DA. We are sharing power in Joburg, we are sharing power in Tshwane," said Malema. "We are talking and we are not seeing any hostilities about a possibility of power sharing. We will have a mayor in Tshwane, the DA will have MMCs in Tshwane. They will have a mayor in Joburg, we will have MMCs in Joburg," said Malema.
The EFF need to show how they can govern. It is in the nation’s best interest for them to show who they really are in power whether you love or hate them. Working as opposition in a coalition is also a process of maturing our democracy and DA and EFF must put SA first.
Power hungry
I think Julius Malema loves to work with Our_DA
It make sense so that they protect the scandal about the tender. Otherwise it will expose what EFF is up to
EFF 11% is far low to dictate terms. TshwaneANC and Our_DA all they have to do is stop entertaining EFF's nonesense of using them to fight them. NO support for any of the EFF's opportunistic Votes of no confidence/motions. Problem solved... permanently.
All the MYANC and Our_DA need to do to solve the EFF menace, is to NOT support any of the EFF Vote of no confidence on each others mayors, premiers or president. Only then the EFF will wake-up to the reality of being a small party.
Should the ANC stay out of this, the EFF will get nothing anywhere. The EFF is playing the DA and ANC against each other and that process, the EFF seem to be exerting some power. It's up to the ANC and DA to put the EFF in it's right place.
Good move since it help EFF build governance track record in preparation for the 2021 local government which are going to be hotly contested in Metro's and working class municipalities like Rustenberg and others.
So a party that received just 11,7% of the votes in Tshwane in 2016 wants to govern the metro? This is not what the ppl voted for, or does that no matter?
I wonder what MmusiMaimane and the Our_DA will say about this.
Now the DA must play their cards right and add the NM Metro to the deal
I am beginning to distrust Juju...he says one thing and then does another. People jump up and down if Trevor Noah equates him to Trump.
I hate coalition government! It's a battle of political parties fighting for positions at the expense of residents
And NMB will have a DA mayor, again. 😀😀😀😀
Do they need to be in some form of government come high or low? Pity when voters don’t give you that mandate.
Did someone tell the EFFSouthAfrica that the local government elections are in 2021, and we will be better served as a country Elected politicians spend more time focusing on service delivery than on getting themselves positions
How does that work?..
EFFSouthAfrica But mara the DA have more votes than you in Tswane. In fact, they increased their support in Tswane last election and you decreased. How can Julius_S_Malema come with demands now?
But once upon a time they said they will Never work with the Da mos

DA, EFF in talks about installing a red beret mayor in TshwaneEFF leader Julius Malema said on Thursday that his party was in negotiations with the DA to formally partner in governing Tshwane and Johannesburg. At long last two parties coming together as sensible adults. Politicians uses us as their ponies in political chess. ANC, DA and EFF are as good as Unilever products. Same WhatsApp group So much for the DA's despicable and cynical 'rooi gevaar' tactics of lumping the ANC with the EFF during the elections campaign. Shameless hypocrites.
