"I immediately contacted our treasury and said do we have money to assist our people? And they said 'President, we have the money'. So money will be mobilised to assist our people. These are emergency situations that we budget for, so resources will be mobilised in the biggest way so that our people who are currently in need are assisted. It will take time," he said.
Ramaphosa also commended various NGOs, members of the police search and rescue team, and members of the public for coming to the aid of those in need. He visited affected homes in Amazimtoti, Umlazi and Chatsworth on Wednesday. One of the worst floods in recent history has claimed more than 50 lives in KwaZulu-Natal and the devastation is widespread across the province. President Cyril Ramaphosa visited affected families to assess the damage.
That's what the disaster funds, allocated by Treasury in the budget are for
Omg this is so funny😀 The president of a party who has overspent (stolen) a trillion rand is pretending there is a finite budget that they work with I guess this is because it’s for the poor and destitute this time and not that massive budget that is for comrade enrichment
Of course, money is always available for privilege white folk with insured property.
Lol he had to actually check. Not good when you have to check if the money isn't VBS'd
