HSRC Researcher Justin Visagie says unemployment rates jumped dramatically in both cities and rural areas. "For a rough sense of the trends, in 2017 the difference between cities and rural areas in the unemployment rate, was about 12 percentage points. If you were living in a rural area, you would face an unemployment rate of around 30%. If you were living in a city, you would face an unemployment rate of about 20%. Since the start of COVID-19 and the lockdown, We saw unemployment rates jump up dramatically in both cities and rural areas. The key difference is the trend over time.

That makes sense. Covid is not gone. Restrictions is eased but the damage has been done. It will take 6months or more before some company's can recover & really know if they going to make it. The expenses to keep the business running and salary's is hectic. Some won't recover.
