The nine former board members also wanted the court to interdict human settlements, water and sanitation minister Lindiwe Sisulu’s decision to appoint the interim board and to declare their dismissal unlawful.Members of the former board, whose appointments were terminated on July 31, had brought a motion before the court seeking an urgent interdict.
Diko said Sisulu hoped that this judgment served as a clear message to all who serve in the public institutions, regardless of level, that they all serve the people of SA and implement the policies of the government. Former board members Visvin Reddy, Siboniso Shabalala, William Mapena, Teboho Nkhahle, Nompumelelo Chamane, Mbali Ndlovu, Simonsenkosi Chamane, Suleman Badat and Thandwa Mthembu brought an application against the minister.
