Cosatu have handed over a memorandum of demands to Police Minister, Bheki Cele. The union and other organisations took to the streets of Cape Town protesting against crime and rising living costs.

He says thousands of more police officers will be deployed in December.

"The question of resources, we definitely agree with you that the state especially the warm bodies South Africa in 2010 we had 195,000 police we are down. "At the present moment we have 10,000 trainees, they will be out on 15 December. We still have a long way to go."
